There is nothing more personal or profound than knowing how to use your own voice. Our voices allow us to express ourselves, know ourselves, and lets others know who we are.
While speaking to others is something we do every day, as soon as we shift into using our voice for singing, many people become suddenly overcome by the vulnerability of this simple act.
When you come to voice lessons, not only do you strengthen your voice, but you also do the work of strengthening yourself. I have seen it happen over and over again, and that is the most rewarding part of my job.Bella Voce Studio

The Blue Piano Studio:
Piano lessons should be interesting, challenging with lots of fun. The real deal is that learning something new can sometimes get a little bit difficult, but at the studio, you’ve always got someone to help you out ﹠ you’re never going to be stuck for long!
Building a good practice routine is the part that everyone has trouble with at some time. At Blue Piano, we work with several different approaches to practice to help each learner achieve their best outcome.
A traditional lesson structure may not be the right kind of motivation or learning style for you which is why there are lots of different options for learning music in the studio. You’ll love learning together through weekly challenges and connecting with other learners in the studio who applaud your musical achievements.
Celebrating student accomplishments is an important piece of the learning journey. The music made by each student is available to family members, friends, and others in your cheering section in our very own online concert hall ~ Forte ~ at the end of each semester and available to be downloaded or shared on your social media.
And parents, we understand that having several kids in music can be expensive which is why we offer a “Runs in the Family Discount“ of 5% off tuition for each additional siblings or family member. Adults included!

Nobleton, L0G 0A8
Music for Young Children has been introducing children to music through a fun multisensory approach since 1980. We are the MYC teachers in King Township. Music for Young Children was developed in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia by Francis Balodis in 1980. The goal was to create a program that would fulfill the need for quality music education for young children. Today, MYC has more than 24,000 students annually, 900 teachers and is taught on 3 continents. The core MYC programs are Sunshine (starting age 3-5), Sunbeams (starting age 5-6) and Moonbeams (starting age 7-9). The children meet in small groups, in their own age category, once a week far an hour, accompanied by an adult (parent, guardian or caregiver) who participates the program. Based around group keyboard lessons, we include singing, creative movement, theory, rhythm ensembles, composition and more. The program lasts for 3 - 5 years, depending on the age of the child. Each year consists of a progressive curriculum. The Sunrise program (starting age 2-3) helps children develop listening awareness, fine motor skills, attention span and social skills. Puppets, songs and games guide the development of singing, rhythm and ear training skills. The Sunrise program is presented in 10 week blocks of weekly 45 minute lessons. Like all MYC children’s programs, an significant adult shares this fun experience with each child. Bridget Butt, in King City and Karen Kastner, in Nobleton, are both excited to present this fun and effective approach to music education. Bridget may be contacted at: 905-539-0140. Ottawa, K1A 0A1
A parent run cooperative focused on providing musical opportunities for ensemble and orchestral playing. The Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy is a registered non-profit organization and is governed by a Board of Directors. Donations are appreciated and tax-deductible. From its modest beginnings as a small string orchestra in 1982, under the tutelage of founder and Music Director John Gomez, the Academy has developed into several well-established ensembles, including five string groups: Beginner Strings, Primary Strings, Junior Strings, Intermediate Strings and Senior Strings as well as Junior Brass, Beginner Bassoon, French Horn and Harp ensembles. The Intermediate and Senior Wind ensembles specialize in Chamber Music and there are Beginner Bassoon and French Horn ensembles. In support of all of these ensembles the Academy offers classes in pre-school music experience and a range of music theory instruction. Finally, there are two full symphonic orchestras known as the Ottawa Junior Youth Orchestra and the Ottawa Youth Orchestra. The original purpose in founding the Academy was to fulfil a need in the community for the training of young string players in ensemble playing. What has evolved not only fully meets this need but also provides the same opportunities to woodwind, brass and percussion students. The enrolment in the Academy is now about 350 and includes some of the best young musicians in the area. The Academy also offers a summer camp program. For all these musicians, aged between 3 and 19 years, the Academy adds the discipline, excitement, and satisfaction of working in ensembles to the solo study of their instruments. To effectively support such an ambitious program, the Academy has established a full teaching structure providing instruction on the playing of strings, percussion, woodwinds, and brass instruments in an ensemble. Our conductors and coaches are themselves all participants in the musical life of our city, and many are also regular performers at the National Arts Centre. The students of the OYOA regularly perform in the Kiwanis Music Festival and MusicFest, as part of their regular ensembles and also in smaller ensembles, as well as individually. In the past years, our students have represented the National Capital Region provincially and nationally as a result of winning their class in the local festival. In addition to a well-supported season of concerts featuring the OYO and OJYO, the OYOA sponsors two free family concerts each year at which all the ensembles perform. The general public is welcome to attend these free concerts to hear the amazing music talent at large in our area and for potential students to identify if they would enjoy the challenges and achievements coming from membership in the OYOA.Rassemblement folklorique de la Montérégie

Professor of music theory
Hamilton, L8E 0G2
ACOUSTIC CONCERTS “Acoustic Blend Café” is an organization hosting monthly acoustic music concerts that have been operating in the Hamilton area since 2009. In 2016, we expanded the concept by starting a concert series in Milton. The operating year runs from October through to May, producing 6 - 7 concerts each series. The 2.5 hour concerts are offered in a relaxed, coffee house setting with light refreshments, feature an “open mic” to start, then showcase local musical talent from any genre, the only condition being that they are acoustic in nature. The performers come from a variety of backgrounds so that each concert features a different style of music. Our goal is to provide an affordable venue for progressing and emerging talent to perform, and to broaden the Canadian music scene in a culture that is seeing live music venues steadily closing. MUSIC LESSONS To further support the development of music, in September 2017 we will be offering music lessons at The Milton Tutoring Centre. We will teach voice, piano, guitar and ukulele, with the potential of expanding to other instruments as interest grows. All levels are welcomed, aged 5 and up. Private and group lessons (minimum of 6 students required) are available, catering to different learning styles. Group lessons provide confidence playing for others in a friendly, encouraging atmosphere. It allows the students to also learn from their peers while exposing them to different styles of music. Music Language Studios
Mission, V2V 0A2Music Language is a philosophy of music education that teaches music lessons as a language. Music Language is a philosophy of music education that teaches music lessons as a language. Our studios aim to teach so that the student experiences the music aurally and physically, and the music becomes part of the students’ being. As in learning a language, it is the experience of listening and aural practice, leading eventually to physical activity that makes learning a reality. Music language recognizes that, while conscious cognition of the mind is a useful tool for learning, it is actually the ear and the body that are being taught. Activities of listening, movement, singing, as well as reading and writing of musical scores are elements of group and individual lessons.

Thanks for considering MYC for you and your children. If you climb on board I promise lots of fun and lots of learning!! My musical education began at age 8. I have completed my Gr. 8 piano Western Conservatory, and Gr. III Harmony Royal Conservatory. My father was a High School Music Teacher for 23 years, I have learned tons from him!!! I worked full/part time for Long ﹠ McQuade Musical Instruments for approx. 12 years, working in the Band Department. My husband Garry currently runs Gazebo Music www.gazebo-music.ca, where he repairs Musical Instruments i.e. Saxophones, Clarinets, flutes etc. I have thought about teaching piano lessons for a long time and I love children and being with them (I have 2 fantastic girls of my own) so after hearing about MYC, I decided to look into it further. I know of many different approaches to the teaching of Music and Piano and I see why MYC is so exciting and different from any other approach I have heard about. I am thrilled with their curriculum! The focus truly is on the children and how they learn music, each group being age specific and researched to the highest degree so that each child has a well rounded and happy experience exploring the world of music. This approach if they stick with it, will serve them well as they grow, a strong foundation that helps to build confidence and self-esteem in many ways, not just Music!! This is a plus for hard working parents and their very tight shedules!! and they get to learn music with their kids!! I can’t wait to meet you if you decide this could be just the ticket for you and your child! Jennifer’s Music Studio
Portage La Prairie, R1N 0A1My name is Jennifer Harder, I provide individual and group instruction in piano and voice, and I teach parent and child music classes. Music is an integral part of life, and has been found in every known culture throughout history. Music has a special way of expressing stories, ideas and emotions that words alone are not capable of. Experiencing the beauty and expression of music is a very important part of life. I have loved music from a very young age and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to pass on the joy of music to people of all ages. I began piano lessons at age five, was very active in classical and jazz bands throughout my school years, and have continued to enjoy playing different varieties of music in my adult years. I began to appreciate singing in high school and have been working on my skills as a singer ever since. I have received over seven years of voice training in contemporary, classical and jazz styles. I strongly believe in continuing education for self-improvement, which is why I currently train with voice coaches so I continue to improve my technique and performance ability which in turn, helps improve my own teaching skills. In the past, I have also received training on the guitar, trumpet, alto saxophone and more recently, the bagpipes! They’re still a work in progress! My teaching experience is quite varied, having taught both children and adults many subjects such as swimming lessons, aqua-fitness, and music for older adults. Most of my working background involves aviation. When I worked as an aircraft maintenance engineer, I taught airframes, engines and systems to Royal Canadian Air Cadets. I am still involved in the cadet program and I work at our local Air Cadet Squadron. I also hold a Commercial Pilot License and class 3 Flight Instructor Rating. I strive to bring out the innate musicality in every one of my students. I recognize that everyone has unique learning styles and abilities, therefore I tailor my lessons to meet the needs of my students, as well as their individual interests and goals. I aim to provide quality piano and voice lessons that include music theory, ear training, technique, musicality and much more, in a fun, relaxing atmosphere. The relationship between the student, their parent, and the teacher is essential to achieve success in music lessons. I think that those who know me both personally and professionally would describe me as approachable, fun-loving and easy going. I’m working on developing new and exciting programs, as well as improving my existing ones. Music and teaching are two areas that I am most passionate about. I love working with people of all ages, especially children! To me, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing my students achieve their goals, and knowing that I was lucky enough to be a part of it. Please feel free to contact me if you would like more information about the programs I offer, or if you would like to register for lessons! I look forward to meeting you! www.jharder.musicteachershelper.com
