Twin Mountain Martial Arts

London, N5V 0A2
Twin Mountain Martial Arts is a school in London Ontario, specializing in Black Dragon Kung Fu/San Shou/ Grappling and Tai Chi. Beyond just the physical we strive to teach the philosophy and history of our art, so that as a person grows within the art, they have a greater understanding of all aspects of it. The result is a complete martial artist who understands not only the aspects of fighting, but also the greater challenge of peace, both internally and in relationship to the world. With our system, there is such a close relationship between the physical and mental aspects, that the training permeates all aspects of you, and therefore has a large affect on not only your physicality, but also on your mental well being, and indeed, on all areas of your life. The “twin mountains” after which our school is named are patience and determination. A true martial artist must have the patience to work diligently at the tasks before them, and the determination to see said tasks through to the end. John Lennon has been attributed as saying, “Life is what happens when you are on your way to somewhere else.” There are times that life (work, school, friends, etc.) seems to derail you from the path to your goals. If you are patient and focus on your goals, your determination will bring you back to the path – both in life and in the martial arts studio. If you never use the words “I can’t,” then you will overcome any obstacle. This is the tenant of our system. My sifu (the Chinese word for teacher) has often said, “Any fool can get a Black Belt/Sash, but only few can comprehend the true essence of Martial Arts.” It is for this reason that a black belt in our system is a long, arduous journey. The colour around your waist won’t protect you when you need it. It is only the comprehension of what you know that you can rely on. It is a necessity that you not only learn a bunch of punches and kicks (or weapons, or ground-fighting, etc.), but also that you have a comprehension of both what you are doing, and the consequences of your actions. Only through maturity can you see the various effects your actions have, and this is one of the reasons that you won’t see children black belts in our system. All too often, instructors will give out black belts to those who are not ready, and this will cause a false sense of self, an inflated ego, which could get the person hurt (or worse). At Twin Mountain Martial Arts we strive to do everything with integrity, and therefore no amount of money will buy you a belt. It is only through hard work, resulting from patience and determination that one can be achieved.

---------------------------------------------------- From his youth , MOCHIZUKI Minoru Sensei studied the foundations of an ancient jujutsu school named Gyokushin Ryu. Following the death of Master MOCHIZUKI and in honor of his teacher, WASHIZU Terumi Sensei named his art in the name of this former school. The essence of Gyokushin Ryu Aikido is a direct result of teachings developed by Master MOCHIZUKI, based on a synthesis of many Japanese Budo (Nihon Sogo Budo) such as AIKIDO, JUDO, KARATE and KENJUTSU. WASHIZU Sensei, like his predecessors, bases his teaching on the principles of mutual aid and prosperity, as well as the best use of energy.

Self-defense coach

Ottawa, K1A 0A1
The Jinenkan Ottawa Dojo is the first accredited branch of the Jissen Kobudo Jinenkan in Canada. Our unarmed training includes the full range of Classical Jujutsu: striking, kicking, grappling, blocking and parrying, and ground engagement. Our curriculum of long and short traditional weapons includes Kenjutsu (“sword art“), Bojutsu (“stick/staff art“) Sojutsu/Naginata-jutsu (“spear/halberd art“), Juttejutsu (“truncheon art“), and Tantojutsu (’knife art“). These old styles were developed in the warrior clans and passed down as secrets until the modern period. Etiquette is not empty formality, but is kept minimal and used to foster respect and awareness. The goal is to train until movement becomes natural and instinctive- in fact, “Jinenkan“ means “House of Nature“, implying Manaka Sensei’s concept that the highest level of skill is to move as naturally as the elements. Our dojo offers training in an welcoming, non-competitive environment. Everyone comes to us with different experiences, talents, and limitations. Rather than expect newcomers to immediately tolerate intense physical exercise or try to mold themselves into an arbitrary, cookie-cutter “perfect form“, we realize that the “House of Nature“ needs flexible progression. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, and their own reasons for coming to us. That means all participants in the dojo are on slight variations of the path to self improvement. The dojo is here to facilitate your growth, not the other way around. Training is administered by Dojo-cho (training hall leader) Andy Keyworth, a former resident of Japan and personal student of Manaka Sensei.

Sainte-Marie, G6E 0A1
Description du Gu Lang Do Gu = Solitaire / Lang = Loup / Do = Voie Ce concept d’arts martiaux a été créé au Canada par Sensei Rémi Labrèche.

Academie De Taekwondo Raymond Mourad

Montréal, H1A 4Z2
Taekwondo For Every One. Grit and determination. Enthusiasm. Indomitable spirit. All these describe Grand Master Raymond Mourad. With more than 30 years experience in Taekwondo and most of these as master of this illustrious school, Master Mourad teaches the freshmen as the seniors. He accompanies you through the steps to attain more confidence, determination, strength, assurance… Always present, he spends most of his days at the school. He is available, sincere in his effort to help mentally as well as physically. He teaches most of the classes. If not, he dispatches one of his many excellent black belt students. In the nervous heart of NDG, you can hardly miss his school reigning over Sherbrooke Street. Seeing his banners and signs, who has not dreamed of attaining his or her black belt at the Do Jang. The mastering of martial arts seems like a mystic enterprise. At Raymond Mourad Taekwondo Academy, you may get into shape body and soul. And know that sending a son or a daughter to the Academy may not only help the child exert energy and socialize, but also help them harness their minds and gain discipline. A most useful tool… Come in… Observe… and if you like, join. Most parents who send their children to the School see dramatic changes in their youngling’s character. Most adults who join (for it is never too late), see their flexibility and confidence improve just like their discipline. As well, there is a constant, they have fun. No dreary, boring, uptight classes. Fun. And Master Raymond has quite the sense of humour.

» Funakoshi
