Dion Events

Each event is very different and may involve different requirements and work to be done. Corporate events are quoted based on type of event and tasks required. Full wedding planning starts at $2,600, day-of/month-of wedding planning starts at $1,200 and partial planning falls somewhere in between and is tailored to suit your needs. Each event must be quoted on individual project requirements.

We like to meet with our clients whenever possible face to face for an initial meeting. If this is not possible we discuss via phone and email to start. We discuss the client vision for the event, number of people that might attend, the venue of choice if there is one, and much more. We gather all of the details, look at the budget and objectives and then come back with some directions and solutions.

Shani (company owner and lead planner) comes from a background of 20+ years in marketing and communications working on promotional strategies and execution for high level clients. She is WPIC (Wedding Planning Institute of Canada) certified, and part of Ajax Pickering Board of Trade as well as The Canadian Society of Professional Event Planners (CanSPEP). Shani has been planning parties, and events both social and corporate for over 20 years.

Shani started party planning when her own kids were very young, creating elaborate themes for their birthday parties. This turned into being Fun Fair committee chair and being part of fundraising events both for school events, sports team events and later volunteering time for Shine Through the Rain foundation and fundraising events for Sick Kids Hospital.

At Dion Events we work with both Corporate Clients and individuals planning their own social parties and weddings. We have done team building and social events for 20 people to large corporate clients with hundreds of people.

Every event is different...and that is what we like about what we do. Some corporate projects take a number of months or a year to plan while some weddings take the same duration! Some events are planned in just 2-3 weeks. Each project is fun in it's own way. We really enjoy the events where we can add our creative flair.

Ask the questions that are important to you and get a feel for the planner you are hiring. Be sure they are professional, and most importantly that you feel very comfortable with that person, especially if you will be working together for months on a project. There has to be a level of trust.

When putting down the necessary information for a planner, it is important to know how many people you might want to have, and ultimately what your budget is. Just those things will help the planner suggest best options and sometimes best event direction. If a client does have a vision for the day, or a theme in mind, it is important to discuss this up front so the planning process can begin around that.
