I, Scot, have over 30 years experience painting and running this business taking over when my dad retired in *information hidden*I am proud to be an accredited member of the PDCA, *information hidden*er's Painters Institute as an Architectural Coatings Specialist.

After 35 years working at INCO in Port Colborne my father was offered an incentive package to take an early retirement at which time he apprenticed under a professional 35 year experience painter until Art retired and my dad began his own business in *information hidden*I financed my Bachelor of Theology degree working alongside my father and when he retired in 1996 I simply took over the family business, proud to carry on what my father started.

We have worked and continue to work with a wide variety of customers and projects, individuals, small contractors, property managers, real estate companies and brokers, and large contractors. We have painted, wall papered and applied decorative finishes to homes, cottages, businesses, offices, schools, universities and factories. We have applied epoxies, special coatings, airless spraying, and fine finishes on kitchen cupboards and doors. You name it, over the past 33 years we probably coated it.

We recently completed the painting, interior and exterior and wall coverings of a renovated Wendy's Restaurant in Cambridge. The wall coverings were industrial and custom made, very challenging to work with but we managed and did a wonderful job. I enjoyed the challenge of different work than I done before, I do not get many opportunities to try something different after the years I have been in this business. And yet again, at Sheridan College we were requested to apply a Dry Erase Top Coating to cover 4 entire walls to be used in their dance studios. The high gloss finish and required thickness for use as a dry erase board added different challenges then I had been faced with before and it turned out fantastic.

When looking for a Pro do your homework. Check out *information hidden*, Homestars and other websites for reviews. Get at least 3 different quotes to compare Ask the right questions: Don't just ask the name brand of the paint but the quality and line of paint. All manufactures have their best and their contractor line of paints. Do not accept contractor quality in your home, pay the extra and use the best. Is the contractor registered for HST, and WSIB. Ask to see their Safety Standards and practises. If someone is hurt on the job you do not want WSIB coming after you. Do they provide references and if they do call those references Has everyone in the company completed the required Working At Heights Training and have their certifications. What happens if their is a dispute regarding workmanship, timing, price etc? Do not be afraid to ask these questions, it is your home or office these pros are coming to.

Some of the factors that will alter the price of your project such as the current state of your walls, the intricacy of the work (ie. crown molding, lot's of colour changes, height of the ceilings, large decorative baseboards, french doors, etc). Is there a lot of furniture that will need to be moved (will the contractor do that). The emptier the room the less the cost. Take the time to measure the walls. On average a gallon of paint will cover *information hidden*sq ft of wall space. If you measure the walls first you will have a pretty good idea as to how much paint will be required. If you price high end quality paint at your nearest paint store you will have a pretty good idea of the cost of material before the pro shows up to your door.
