I have a standard day or 1/2 day rate for the photography then a rate for travel expenses and post production work. additional expenses such as props or rental equipment would also be charged.

Discuss the brief , budget and expected completion date for final images.

I was an assistant to a London UK photographer for 5 years *information hidden*then went freelance so I have been working as a professional photographer for 34 years.

I applied for an assistant position with a London UK photographer and was accepted. I learnt a great deal about both the technical aspects and the business side of photography.

Ad and Design agencies and direct clients being corporate or individuals

I was recently commissioned to photography hand made embossed leather bags by a local artisan and was asked to create backgrounds that befitted the tone and quality of the product. I enjoyed making the background with input from my client. The shoot was over 2 days and the process of creating the backgrounds took a week.

Ensure that all the details of the shoot, be it on location or in studio, are ready to explain and have a firm grasp on just what you are expecting in the final images. Be prepared for the photographer to ask questions about the brief, budget and final output. Understand that post production on digital images is the norm and do not be surprised that this incurs further costs.

Budget, area of usage (Licences to use) completion dates for delivery of final post produced images and what format the images should be supplied , also of course delivery method.
