I was a Chartered Professional Accountant for close to a decade. I worked as a corporate accountant for large public and private firms in various industries before starting my own business. I've completed an accredited T2 Corporate Tax Returns course, which is renewed every year to stay up to date with current regulations.

Make sure you do your research before selecting an accountant or tax professional. I've had to clean up messes left by CPAs who have the designation and should have known what they were doing but didn't. Ask questions about qualifications and check references. If they seem shady or give vague answers, look for someone else. Saving a few bucks up front could cost you a lot more later on.
