Institut de biomimétisme
9

Teacher of environmental science

Community Carbon Marketplace
14

Teacher of environmental science

Duncan, V9L 0A1
The CCM is an online exchange to buy and sell community carbon credits generated from a wide range of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction projects. The CCM matches buyers (municipalities, businesses and individuals) of Community Carbon Credits/GHG reductions with local sellers (Social enterprises, businesses and non profits that reduce carbon emissions). These organizations were previously unable to access the market because their projects were too small, the costs of assessments were too high, and the bureaucracy and jargon was too thick! The result is an online “Farmer’s Market of the Carbon Market“ featuring local projects that you can feel good about supporting. Each purchase of a community carbon credit (C3) is an investment that helps support the local economy and fosters community resilience!

It’s no wonder that it sits at the heart of many challenges facing the country. Water management issues that overlap jurisdictions are made even more difficult to solve because industry, government and NGOs are often disconnected from researchers and relevant knowledge that could significantly improve their ability to make progress. Canadian Water Network is driving Canada’s progress on water challenges. These are our priorities: Blue Cities, Agriculture ﹠ Water, Energy ﹠ Resources, Small ﹠ Indigenous Communities.

Eco-West / Éco-Ouest

Eco-West / Éco-Ouest

Winnipeg, R2C 0A1
Help foster the growth and prosperity of Western Canada`s municipalities through the planning and implementation of a green economy infrastructure. Eco-West`s mandate is to help foster the growth and prosperity of Western Canada`s municipalities through the planning and implementation of a green economy infrastructure. This is accomplished through the creation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories and the development of Climate Change Local Action Plans (CCLAPs), and supporting municipalities that are seeking opportunities to bring green technologies to the marketplace, attract foreign direct investments as well as create a skilled workforce. Eco-West’s activities thus include assisting rural and urban municipalities in their local and regional greening projects by capitalizing on the synergies that exist between economic and sustainable development. This is done by demonstrating that there are alternatives to the traditional solutions that are commonly used when it comes to the production and consumption of energy, as well as the use of the various by-products of human activity. In order to achieve these goals, Eco-West is active in the following sectors: Energy Transportation Wastewater treatment Waste management Brownfield redevelopment Local/regional agricultural products Within the framework of its overall activities in the above-mentioned areas, Eco-West proactively seeks to establish partnerships with various stakeholders from all three levels of government, private enterprise as well as to encourage the participation of local residents in order to create a sustained dynamic for initiatives that deal with issues in the areas of energy, the economy as well as the environment. The establishment and sharing of best practices is likewise an important aspect of Eco-West`s activities, as data and results from various studies can be studied and used by other communities that might be interested in developing their own local or regional action plan, and also in implementing projects that are similar to the ones that have already been launched elsewhere in Western Canada Created in April 2014, Project Eco-West is an initiative resulting from the collaboration of Western Canada’s four Francophone Economic Development Organizations (FEDOs): Conseil de développement économique des municipalités bilingues du Manitoba (CDEM), Conseil de la coopération de la Saskatchewan (CCS), Conseil de développement économique de l’Alberta (CDÉA), and Société de développement économique de la Colombie-Britannique (SDÉ).

I’m a Consulting Apiculturist, Ecologist and Educator in Nova Scotia. My specializations include Natural Beekeeping, native bees, and bee conservation. My intention for this page is to post photos, articles, research, and factoids about honey bees, beekeeping, and native bees (focusing on the fauna and flora of Nova Scotia, Canada). I also post about the Natural Beekeeping approach I use in my own apiary. Heading into my 7th year with Honey bees, I’ve realized that few people relate to their bees the way I do. I am inspired by Ross Conrad’s Natural Beekeeping approach, and I also use some basic Biodynamic techniques. My first main encounter with honey bees was at Ross Conrad’s program on Natural Beekeeping. In the first 15 minutes, I recognized beekeeping as my life path. Since my academic background is in insect ecology, I jumped into full-scale learning mode. I attended additional courses and Honey bee conferences in Canada and the United States, read books, watched documentaries, bombarded a few commercial beekeepers with questions, found some co-operative neighbours, and started my first hive. This passion and adventure continues! Now completely enthralled with these beautiful insects, I look forward to another 40 years of love and fascination. I also work as an Ecology/ Conservation Biology consultant, and you can find me part-time at Country Fields Beekeeping Supply Store in Waverly, Nova Scotia.
