Separation Anxiety - howls, poops, pees, chews things he shouldn't. Found out this the hard way when we left him. As a result, we are crate training him via articles on the internet. Would like guidance on that. He loves his crate, goes in it on his own and hangs out there a lot. But when I leave, while he's in the crate, he whines. I've been walking in and out of the house, making noise with keys/jacket/door and we are up to about 4 mins with a little bit of whinning but at the 4 min mark he lies down quiet. Then I come in around 5 seconds after to calmly do my things, then let him out with no celebration. (hopefully I'm doing that right?). Goal is to get up to a few hours. I work from home so its not a huge thing but its only for a year. I will go back to work in a year.
