Humber’s Theatre Performance Program offers actor training for the twenty-first century, combining physical and classical approaches to making theatre. We will give you rigorous training in the technical skills every actor needs: challenging voice and movement, working with a wide range of texts, creating original work both personally and with an ensemble. We will also introduce you to the entrepreneurial skills you need to make a living in the arts; you will work on-camera, in the voice-over studio, and in stage combat; you will explore and refine your artistic voice and you will become part of the growing network of Humber graduates who are making a difference. You will work with nationally and internationally acclaimed actors and directors who will share with you, as teachers and mentors, their long experience in the professional world. Our graduates have careers as actors, directors, producers, and writers. You will find them on stages across the country from Shakespeare to burlesque, from contemporary drama to puppetry. You will find them as actors on film, on television and voicing animated characters. They are creators above all, looking to expand Canadian theatre with original voices that spring from many cultures and perspectives. CKA’s After School Arts Program (ASAP) engages children in dance, drama, music and visual art in hands-on sessions led by practicing artists from across the region. To expand its reach and encourage a deeper appreciation of the arts in our community, CKA has developed and implemented new modes of arts engagement, training, and delivery that encourage apprenticeship and mentorship learning. CKA’s ArtWorks skills development program pairs artist mentors with young adults interested in pursuing a career in the cultural sector. Performing arts Lecture
New Westminster, V3L 0A2
Kids will learn a variety of techniques from mixed media to textile arts. Lessons will include “Portraits by Picasso“ and “Weaving our Stories Together.“ Fees: $150 per week. Picasso once said all children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up. At Five Stones Church, we believe that kids have incredible capacity for innovation and creativity because we are all created in the image of God, the Creator of our universe. The world that our kids are growing up into will require innovative and creative thinkers to change and shape our society. At Imagination Camp, kids will be asked to push boundaries in their thinking, to be creative, innovative and critical thinkers. Kids of all skill levels will learn a variety of techniques from mixed media to textile arts. Lessons will include “Portraits by Picasso“ and “Weaving our Stories Together.“ Teacher’s Bio: Textile artist and costume designer Jill Cardwell will be our guide for creative exploration. Her artwork is an exploration of community, faith, and embodiment through the means of clothing, textiles, and mixed media. Following a Bachelor’s degree in Costume Design, Jill worked in film, theatre, and circus for 10 years in both Canada and Ireland. Now she teaches art and creative exploration workshops for adults and children in a variety of settings. Jill also provides opportunities for spiritual direction through the arts. The focus of her work is sharing and collaboration. Making art together means sharing our stories, our experiences, and our skills. Who I am as a person becomes fully realised when it comes into contact with who you are. The collaborative creative process affirms our uniqueness while allowing the perspectives of others to deepen our own journey. “I make sense of what I’m experiencing and learning by making art. Art-making is a generative action. It reminds us that we have the power to transform and to produce beauty.” http://www.thejumpingcat.comFine Arts Parents Association

The Fine Arts Parents Association (FAPA) exists solely for the purpose of advocacy and support for Halifax’s All-City Music Program. Our parent volunteers give generously of their time, energy and resources. Halifax All-City Music provides free weekly programming to students Grades 3-12 in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Through Halifax All-City Music students have the opportunity to participate in strings instruction (starting in Grade 3), various choral groups, string ensembles, jazz bands and symphony orchestra. Our programs serve upwards of 1200 students a year and are dependent on the exceptional standard of instruction provided by the music teachers who head each program. Many of our graduates go on to pursue fields of study and/or careers related to music, and most develop a life-long passion for keeping music in their lives. Every student benefits from this collaborative, creative experience. To have such high calibre programming as a cultural underpinning of the Halifax community is truly unique. That this programming is available without financial barriers through a network of public schools is a rare and remarkable achievement which must be preserved. FAPA’s largest annual fundraiser, “Winterlude”, is a gala event showcasing twelve of these extraordinary musical groups. This year it will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2014 in the McInnes Room at Dalhousie University.Watercolour Weekends

LRMTA is a branch of the Alberta Registered Music Teachers Association. ARMTA is a professional organization representing and serving approximately 400 music teachers across the province. The organization began in 1932 as a group of music teachers who were interested in enhancing the quality of life by promoting the love and knowledge of music through teaching and by providing cultural events of a high standard in the community. These became our stated goals and objectives when we became a Registered Professional Association in 1982. The Lethbridge branch of the Alberta Registered Music Teachers’ Association is part of a Canada-wide federation of music teachers encompassing ten provinces, with over 3,200 members. To be a member of the Association, teachers must hold a degree or diploma from a recognized university or conservatory or meet the necessary qualifications set down by the registering province. This ensures a high level of training and a commitment to professionalism. The aim of our organization is to encourage and provide the highest calibre of music education possible and to promote high standards of music in our community. Currently the Lethbridge branch has 23 members from Lethbridge and the surrounding area who give lessons in piano, theory, strings and organ. Our branch presents a number of student recitals each year and organizes workshops and master classes for students and teachers in the community.Toronto Summer Music Festival

All this adds richness to the music our students make on their life journeys. So while money makes our work possible — we’re not in it for the money. Students gobble up our bursaries and scholarships. Our programs serve everyone from toddlers to grandparents — beginners to professionals — everybody benefits and they take those benefits home with them. We know our outreach programs are actually changing young lives for the better. And your donations have been crucial to all our successes.
